認識基督並祂復活的大能,同基督受苦的交通及模成祂的死

腓立比書三章十節的認識基督是藉着經歷,保羅首先得着基督的啟示,然後尋求對基督的經歷,就是在經歷上認識並享受祂。認識基督意即經歷並享受祂,有分於祂,並分享祂。認識基督也是藉着經歷祂而領畧祂,更要贏得祂那獨特的人位,保羅贏得基督就是出代價以經歷,享受並支取祂一切追測不盡的豐富,也不僅拋棄他在猶太教裏的經歷,也不停留在已往對基督的經歷中。基督徒的生活乃是贏得包羅萬有之基督的生活,爲着要贏得基督到最完滿的地步,保羅不但抛棄他在猶太教裏的經歷,也不停留在他已往對基督的經歷中。

保羅渴望認識基督並經歷基督復活的大能。基督復活的大能就是祂從死人中復活的生命,祂自己就是復活,祂是首先的,是末後的,又是那活着的,曾經死過,看哪,現在又活了,直活到永永遠遠,並且拿着死亡和陰間的鑰匙,記載於啟示錄一章十七至十八節。可以說復活乃是勝過死亡而且不被死亡毀壞損傷的生命,而那靈是基督復活及其大能的實際,復活的原則就是天然的生命被殺死,神聖的生命代之而起。

保羅渴望認識基督同基督受苦的交通。基督的受苦有兩類:一類是為成功救贖,這已經由基督自己完成了。另一類是為產生並建造召會,這需使徒和信徒將其補滿。我們不能有分於基督救贖的苦難,但我們必須有分於基督產生並建造祂身體的苦難。保羅在腓立比三章十節的話,不是指着為我們自己的變化而受苦,乃是說到補滿基督為身體所受患難的缺欠。當我們為基督的身體受苦時,我們就能經歷基督復活的大能。

保羅說到模成基督的死,指明祂的死是一個模子。腓立比三章的中心,乃在於模成基督之死模子的形狀,我們已經被擺在這死的模子裏,現今我們需要模成這模子的形狀。基督之死的模子,是指基督經歷不斷的將祂屬人的生命治死,使祂得以憑神的生命活着。模成基督的死也就是以基督的死作為我們生活的模子,我們的生活應當模成祂這模子的形狀,就是向我們人的生命死,而活神的生命。約翰福音十二章28節,十三章31節告訴我們,榮耀神惟一的路,就是模成基督的死,我們越模成基督的死,就越榮耀父。(熊掌山)

Nature, in the common sense, refers to essences unchanged by man; space, the air, the river, the leaf. Art is applied to the mixture of his will with the same things, as in a house, a canal, a statue, a picture.

But his operations taken together are so insignificant, a little chipping, baking, patching, and washing, that in an impression so grand as that of the world on the human mind, they do not vary the result.

Undoubtedly we have no questions to ask which are unanswerable. We must trust the perfection of the creation so far, as to believe that whatever curiosity the order of things has awakened in our minds, the order of things can satisfy. Every man’s condition is a solution in hieroglyphic to those inquiries he would put.

The voyage had begun, and had begun happily with a soft blue sky, and a calm sea.

They followed her on to the deck. All the smoke and the houses had disappeared, and the ship was out in a wide space of sea very fresh and clear though pale in the early light. They had left London sitting on its mud. A very thin line of shadow tapered on the horizon, scarcely thick enough to stand the burden of Paris, which nevertheless rested upon it. The ship was making her way steadily through small waves which slapped her and then fizzled like effervescing water, leaving a little border of bubbles and foam on either side. The colourless October sky above was thinly clouded as if by the trail of wood-fire smoke, and the air was wonderfully salt and brisk. Indeed it was too cold to stand still. Mrs. Ambrose drew her arm within her husband’s, and as they moved off it could be seen from the way in which her sloping cheek turned up to his that she had something private to communicate.

They were now moving steadily down the river, passing the dark shapes of ships at anchor, and London was a swarm of lights with a pale yellow canopy drooping above it. There were the lights of the great theatres, the lights of the long streets, lights that indicated huge squares of domestic comfort, lights that hung high in air.

No darkness would ever settle upon those lamps, as no darkness had settled upon them for hundreds of years. It seemed dreadful that the town should blaze for ever in the same spot; dreadful at least to people going away to adventure upon the sea, and beholding it as a circumscribed mound, eternally burnt, eternally scarred. From the deck of the ship the great city appeared a crouched and cowardly figure, a sedentary miser.
